28 November
It has been quite some time since I have given news with what has been happening
with the stud! We have certainly had a busy time!
Danté the cremello colt belonging to a friend of mine has now gone back
to his home. He was here for several weeks and was a character that is for sure!
Hopefully he has got a couple of mares in foal which will be known shortly.
Cleo now named Charm has gone
to her new home in Hawkes Bay. Her owner is a lovely lady and managed to convince
me to put her beautiful 3 year old filly in foal to Des because she loved him
so much. As we do not stand Des to the public, was happy to put her filly in foal
since she purchased a progeny by Des. Happy to say that Des being as fertile as
he is easily did the job and there will be an outside mare due to him early September
2012.
Speaking of mares in foal, apart from Sharn the outside mare in foal to Des,
we have three other mares confirmed in foal via scan. Two are Nakita
and the pinto mare Zeina in foal
to Des. The other mare is Bella who
is in foal to Mac. So one hundred percent
hit rate for the first lot of scans - YAY!
Destiny's Anastasia (Kitty) has
been sold to Havelock North to be a future mustering/trekking horse. We did a
five hour float ride over the Gentle Annie to take her to her new home and bought
back another broodmare! The mare is named Roany
and she is in foal to a pinto stallion named Injun. She is a bay roan and a pony
which is a first for us because we normally only have hacks. Roany is due to foal
early December so really looking forward to what she foals!
In a couple of weeks we will be scanning a few more mares and getting
Destiny's Pablo Picasso branded with our stud brand. Pablo is going to be
one tall boy and I expect him to grow approx. 16.2hh.
The foals are all well and soon will be doing some proper training with them
in a few weeks. They are growing so quickly! They are advertised
for sale.
So that is just a brief summary of what we have been doing in the last couple
of months. I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas!
